Quick answer: Repetition is often reinforced by the current conversation history. Stop prompting the same loop, give one concrete scene change, and compare the same companion in a new chat. Do not delete memory or rewind the branch until you know where the pattern began.
Identify the loop you are actually seeing
Save two or three examples. The companion may repeat an exact phrase, mirror your message, reuse the same emotional reaction, or end every reply in the same way. A normal callback to an earlier event is different from repeated wording or action despite a clear change in direction.
If the main problem is lack of detail rather than repeated content, use the short-response guide.

Break the pattern with one clear direction
- Move the scene to a new location or decision.
- Ask for a new action or fact, not another summary.
- Use one brief OOC instruction naming the unwanted pattern and replacement behavior.
- Open a clean chat with the same companion and a different opening.
- Check the memory panel for an incorrect fact that keeps pulling the conversation back.
Do not send the same correction after every reply. That correction can become repetitive context itself.
Decide whether history, memory, or delivery is responsible
Clean output in a new chat points to the original branch. Immediate repetition across new chats and companions points toward the selected mode or a broader output-quality issue. If messages are failing or retrying, complete the delivery checks before judging the content.
Time Travel removes the later branch and memories created from those removed messages. Review the SecretOpedia’s Secrets AI response-quality guides before destructive changes. For wider product context, our the independent evaluation of Secrets AI chat quality covers current chat, memory, and tier trade-offs.
Report persistent repetition with short examples
Contact support when the same loop appears immediately in new chats, across different companions, after a clear scene change. Include the mode, reply style, time, and short redacted examples.
Earlier changelog entries mention output-quality and repetition improvements. That history shows active tuning, not proof that a current result is the same historical bug.
