Corrections and Updates Policy

SecretOpedia corrects material errors and updates content when reliable evidence changes. Readers, companies, rights holders, and community members can report a concern to [email protected].

We aim to acknowledge a complete report within three to five business days. Acknowledgment is not a promise that the requested change will be accepted or completed within that period.

What to include in a correction request

Use the subject line Correction Request and include the page address, the exact statement in question, why it is inaccurate or outdated, the requested change, and a reliable source. Provide enough context to distinguish a factual issue from a difference of opinion.

Do not send passwords, private account content, payment data, or unrelated personal information. A screenshot can support a report, but a current official page or reproducible result is usually stronger evidence.

How reports are assessed

The editorial team considers the source’s authority, date, directness, incentives, and consistency with other evidence. Current official information normally receives priority for verifiable product facts. Credible user reports may establish that an experience occurred, but do not automatically prove that every user will encounter the same behavior.

A company can correct a verifiable factual error. It cannot require SecretOpedia to remove supported criticism, change a score without evidence, hide a commercial relationship, or approve the article.

Minor changes

Spelling, punctuation, formatting, broken links, grammar, and other changes that do not alter meaning may be corrected without a public note. We may also improve clarity when the conclusion and underlying facts remain the same.

A silent minor change should not be used to conceal a substantive error.

Material corrections

A visible correction note should be added when a change materially affects:

  • the meaning of a factual claim;
  • a price, subscription, refund, privacy, safety, or account decision;
  • a review criterion or overall score;
  • who a product is suitable for;
  • a significant advantage, disadvantage, or alternative; or
  • the final verdict.

A correction note should identify the nature of the error and the corrected information without unnecessarily repeating harmful or private material. It should be placed where a reasonable reader can understand that the published assessment changed. The note should not overstate certainty when the available evidence remains disputed.

Updates that are not corrections

A product can change after an article was accurate. Adding a new feature, replacing an interface, changing a plan, or revising a public policy is an update rather than proof that the earlier article was wrong.

When a change materially affects the article’s usefulness or conclusion, we should update the content and identify the new checking context. Older information may be retained only when it helps readers understand the change and is clearly marked as historical.

Review schedule

High-change subjects are targeted for review about every three months. These include pricing, subscriptions, refunds, account deletion, privacy, NSFW rules, feature limits, message limits, and app availability.

Evergreen guides are generally targeted for review every six to twelve months. A major product announcement, documented outage, legal change, security concern, or credible correction report can trigger an earlier review. These intervals are goals, not guarantees that every change will be detected immediately.

Last Updated information

Articles should display a Last Updated date when the public content receives a meaningful review or change. A date should not be refreshed merely to make an old article appear new.

A change limited to spacing, punctuation, or another minor presentation issue does not necessarily justify changing the public date.

Changing review scores

A score may change when product behavior, pricing, evidence, testing scope, or a material factual conclusion changes. The updated score must follow the Review Methodology and cannot be changed because of affiliate compensation or commercial pressure.

When practical, a material score change should include a brief explanation of what changed and why it affected the assessment.

Outdated pages

When an article cannot be kept accurate, SecretOpedia may add a warning, narrow its claims, redirect it to a more useful page, archive it, or remove it from public access. The choice depends on whether the older page still helps readers and whether a safe correction is possible.

We do not keep a page public solely because it receives traffic or contains commercial links.

Privacy, copyright, and safety requests

A correction request is not always the correct process. Personal-data requests should follow the Privacy Policy. Ownership and trademark disputes should follow the Copyright and Takedown Policy. Age, consent, or exploitation concerns should identify the safety issue clearly.

We may temporarily restrict material while a credible legal, privacy, or safety concern is reviewed.

Contact

Email correction reports to [email protected]. Include one issue per clearly organized message where possible, and keep a copy of your evidence. We may ask follow-up questions when the requested change cannot be verified from the initial message.
