Our editorial purpose
Each article should answer a specific reader need. A guide should help complete a task. A troubleshooting page should narrow likely causes and safe next steps. A review should explain trade-offs, suitability, limitations, and uncertainty rather than repeat promotional claims.
We do not publish content merely to create more pages. A page should add clear value through organization, explanation, comparison, testing, evidence, or decision support.
Source hierarchy
We may use official product pages, help material, announcements, changelogs, direct testing, public forums, Reddit discussions, videos, social media, independent reviews, and user reports.
Current official sources normally receive priority for verifiable product facts such as stated features, supported devices, published terms, and documented account controls. Official information can still be incomplete or outdated, so we compare publication dates, page context, and other evidence.
Community sources help identify real-world experiences, recurring complaints, edge cases, and differences between stated behavior and reported behavior. A community claim is labeled as a report or experience unless it can be independently confirmed.
Direct testing and research-based analysis
We clearly distinguish content based on direct testing from content based mainly on research. A page receives a Hands-On Review label only when the relevant product was directly used, key functions were tested, and meaningful limits are disclosed.
A Research-Based Review can still be useful when it compares reliable official information with credible community evidence. It must not imply that the editorial team completed actions it did not perform.
High-change facts
Pricing, subscriptions, refunds, account deletion, privacy, NSFW rules, feature limits, message limits, and app availability can change quickly. We use cautious language, identify the checking context where useful, and direct readers to verify important details with the provider.
We keep essential distinctions clear. Canceling a subscription is not the same as deleting an account. Deleting an app is not the same as canceling billing. Free access is not necessarily without limits. An NSFW feature does not mean there are no rules.
How we use artificial intelligence
The SecretOpedia Editorial Team may use artificial intelligence to organize research, structure an article, improve grammar, support translation, and prepare claims for human verification.
Artificial intelligence is not accepted as an authoritative source. It must not invent product use, quotations, statistics, community feedback, test results, or sources. A human reviewer is responsible for checking the final public content before publication.
Review structure and scoring
Reviews should give readers an early verdict and then support it with evidence. Relevant sections normally cover who the product may suit, who may prefer another option, key features, pricing context, privacy information, advantages, disadvantages, alternatives, and the final conclusion.
SecretOpedia uses a score out of 10 where a numerical score is appropriate. The Review Methodology explains criteria, weighting, labels, and limits.
Commercial independence
SecretOpedia participates in the Secrets AI affiliate program and may consider sponsored content. Affiliate compensation does not influence a review score, ranking, disadvantage, or verdict.
Sponsored material must be clearly labeled and cannot be presented as an independent hands-on assessment. A material relationship should be disclosed where a reader is likely to see it, not hidden only in site-wide legal text.
Company fact checks
A company may be invited to identify factual inaccuracies before publication. It may correct a product name, date, feature description, or other verifiable fact when it supplies adequate evidence.
The company may not approve the article, rewrite our opinion, remove supported criticism, change a score, require favorable placement, suppress a conclusion, or delay publication without a legitimate factual reason.
Privacy, safety, and adult content
We avoid publishing unnecessary personal data, private account material, or explicit personal images. Discussion of adult functionality should be specific enough to inform readers without reproducing harmful material.
We prohibit sexual content involving minors or minor-like characters, non-consensual intimate content, sexualized celebrity likenesses, intimate deepfakes, harassment, and exploitation. See the Age and Content Notice.
Attribution and image use
We attribute sources where doing so helps readers verify a claim and does not expose private information. We avoid copying substantial protected expression when a summary or short quotation is sufficient.
Images and brand assets should have a documented source or reasonable publication basis. Credible rights complaints are assessed under the Copyright and Takedown Policy.
Corrections and updates
Minor spelling, grammar, or formatting changes may be made without a public note. A material correction should be disclosed when it changes meaning, a score, a conclusion, or information that could affect a reader’s decision.
High-change content is targeted for review about every three months, while evergreen guides are generally reviewed every six to twelve months. These are editorial targets, not guarantees. Major product changes can trigger an earlier review. Full details appear in the Corrections and Updates Policy.
Conflicts and complaints
A reviewer should disclose a financial, personal, or operational relationship that could reasonably affect reader trust. When a conflict cannot be managed with disclosure and independent review, the assignment should be changed or the content should not be published.
