Quick answer: Moments are account credits used for premium actions such as images, video, audio calls, and custom-character features. Monthly subscription grants reset on the renewal date, while purchased top-up Moments are currently described as not expiring.
Understand the two parts of the balance
- Subscription grant: Moments included with a paid plan and reset each renewal cycle.
- Purchased top-up: Moments bought separately and added to the account balance.
The total shown in navigation can decrease when the monthly grant resets even when purchased Moments remain.

Know which actions use Moments
The official documentation lists image generation, image editing, video creation, audio calls, custom characters, character bundles, and text-to-speech among the actions that can use Moments. Basic chat allowance and Moments are different systems. Reaching a message allowance is not the same as running out of Moments. At the time of checking, the Chat Features page lists text-to-speech at 10 Moments per 100 characters and applies the calculation to the final enhanced text.
Check cost before confirming
Each generation screen should show the current cost. Video cost can change with resolution, duration, content mode, and audio. Image editing and Advanced character setup can have separate charges. Treat the live confirmation as the current value.
Review history when the balance changes
User Settings includes Moments history for purchases and usage. Compare the timestamp, feature, and balance change. Use the log to compare recorded purchases and usage with the visible balance. The public documentation does not define whether every failed or deleted media attempt appears in the log, so do not infer the transaction outcome from the Collection alone.
Purchase top-ups carefully
The official guide currently lists card and cryptocurrency options, with payment details that can change. Confirm the amount, account email, processor, and final balance. Do not repeat a crypto checkout that is already pending without checking its status.
Connect spending to a real workflow
Estimate how many images, edits, video seconds, or call minutes you expect to use. Start with the smallest practical test before committing a large balance. The image-generation cost and retry-planning workflow, the video cost calculation by resolution, duration, and audio, and the Moments estimate for a planned call duration show where costs enter each workflow.
SecretOpedia’s Secrets AI Moments and cost resources organize these actions. The Secrets AI review covering plan grants, top-ups, and value provides wider decision context.
If the balance changes without a clear explanation, follow the reconciliation steps for missing or changed Moments.
Build a small usage estimate before purchasing a top-up. Multiply the visible cost by the number of planned attempts, not only the number of final files you hope to keep. Image retries, edits, video tests, and call minutes can make the real workflow larger than the final collection.
Keep subscription renewal and top-up purchases as separate records. A receipt for a top-up does not prove that a subscription renewed, and a subscription grant does not prove that purchased Moments were removed. The Moments history should be compared with the relevant payment record.
Use the live confirmation screen as the final cost check because feature pricing and available settings can change. A guide can explain the accounting model, but it should not override the amount shown before an action. When testing a new feature, start with the lowest practical duration, resolution, or number of attempts that can answer your question.
For one-time community rewards, use the account-linking workflow for Discord authorization, bonus verification, and role syncing. For companion-specific media packs, use the pre-purchase checks for bundle ownership, cost, and later access.
