Private became the default for new chats
The release notes say existing conversations and memories were migrated, while new chats defaulted to Private memory. Private scope keeps saved memory inside one chat. A Shared Memory Group allows several chats with the same companion to access the group’s memories.
Use the current workflow for private chats and shared Memory Groups before moving an established conversation. Naming a group after the storyline reduces accidental assignment.
Chat settings became editable, with an important limit
The release introduced editable chat names and scope assignments. Current documentation says private chats can be moved into the same Memory Group to share memory, but message histories remain separate. Deleting a private chat also deletes its private memories, while group memories can remain available to other chats in the group.
Archive restoration became part of account organization
Archived Chats were added to User Settings with a restore action. Archive is not deletion: it removes the conversation from the active list while preserving it for later return. the archive and unarchive workflow should be used before assuming a missing chat was deleted.
The update is distinct from Group Chats

What users should review after migration
- Confirm important chats have recognizable names.
- Check whether each chat is Private or assigned to the intended Memory Group.
- Open archived chats before reporting a conversation as missing.
